Designer Dish: Inside Erin Fetherston's Exclusive Brunch
The ingredients required for a good brunch can be as simple as a few eggs and some stellar company. But a great brunch? Well, that involves an in-demand NYC designer, one elegantly decked-out apartment, and some serious around-the-kitchen know-how.
That's why we invited ourselves over to Erin Fetherston's house for a lazy Saturday breakfast/lunch/chat (plus, some downtime with her crush-worthy boyfriend Gabe Saporta). And, sure, we managed to snack on some pretty delicious quiche in between sips of mimosas and ogling Fetherston's so-chic Tribeca pad, but we also got the low-down on her favorite spots in NYC, the designers she sweats, and maybe even a few insider secrets on what's coming up at NYFW. Apartment pics, food pics, and fashion pics from Erin's super-exclusive summertime brunch? Pass the Veuve, wouldya?

How does your weekend wardrobe compare to your typical office uniform?
"On the weekends I love to wear easy, flowy dresses and simple leather sandals. During the week, I dress up my look with a simple change of accessories, swapping out a flat sandal for a pair of wedges or platform pumps. I love dresses that can go from a picnic in the park to a cocktail party with the quick change of a shoe."
Erin wears a dress from her pre-fall Erin for Erin Fetherston collection.

Where do you go to find great home buys? Any favorite flower shop? Local grocer?
"My favorite is ABC Carpet & Home and vintage shops like Fille de Joie in Brooklyn. They have a great selection that is curated with a Parisian sensibility. For flowers, I have this great deli close to my apartment. Their flowers are great and inexpensive!"

Entertaining can be tricky in NYC, do you have any tips for smaller spaces?
"Save on expensive arrangements and take a DIY approach to flowers. It's such an easy and inexpensive way to liven up a space. Short arrangements in a pop of color add an element of coziness to your home when you tuck them away in small, unexpected corners."

What are some of your favorite things to serve at brunch?
"Light and healthy food made from local, organic ingredients is my go-to. Plus, champagne and bellinis!"

Erin prepares an heirloom tomato tart with basil and mozzarella.

Brunch is basically an NYC institution — where are some of your favorite brunch spots in NYC?
"Cafe Gitane, ABC kitchen, Tiny's, Smith and Mills, and Cafe Boulud."
